Artificial Intelligence (AI) has undoubtedly become one of the most widely discussed topics today. In order to offer CityUHK staff and students a unique opportunity to enhance their understanding of Generative AI and ChatGPT, the Central IT (OCIO, ESU, and CSC) has organised two seminars. These seminars are designed to provide attendees with a comprehensive understanding of the latest advancements in AI technology.

Led by experienced professionals from Microsoft, these seminars covered a wide range of subjects. The first seminar, titled "Introduction to Generative AI & ChatGPT," provided an overview of Generative AI (GAI) and dived into the benefits and limitations of ChatGPT. It also explored responsible AI practices and offered insights into the upcoming GPT-4. Attendees received practical guidance on effectively utilising CityUHK ChatGPT and exploring its use cases within the campus environment. The seminar also touched upon Microsoft Copilot, providing valuable insights into this innovative tool.

The second seminar, titled "Prompt Engineering & Advanced ChatGPT Use Cases," delved deeper into ChatGPT, covering topics such as model embedding and fine-tuning. Attendees learned effective prompt engineering techniques and gained knowledge about zero-, one-, and few-shot prompting. The seminar showcased the applications and benefits of chain-of-thoughts prompting and image prompting. It also discussed advanced ChatGPT use cases within the campus setting, providing attendees with the opportunity to ask questions based on personalised data.

The first run of these seminars took place in mid-October and received a positive response, with over 200 staff and students applying. Due to their popularity, the CSC organised another round in November 2023.
