Students are invited to design and build small-scale transmission tower models with limited construction materials to resist artificial earthquakes. The model that withstands the highest shaking intensity before collapse will be the winner.

BASIC 2005 is open to teams from any secondary school in Hong Kong, Macau and Shenzhen. Each team can have a maximum of four members, drawn from Forms 4 to 7 (equivalent to Years 10 to 13) at 2005-2006 Academic year. Normally, only one team per school will be selected to enter the Final.
