We are pleased to announce that our department will be retitled to Department of Architecture and Civil Engineering (建築學及土木工程學系) with effective from 1 July 2014.

The new title embraces the academic offerings and research areas of the Department. The scope of ?civil engineering? covers structural, geotechnical and other construction-related disciplines. For ?architecture? in modern context, it covers application of engineering principles and technology to building design and construction; it is more multi-disciplinary in nature and extending to disciplines like urban design and planning, and landscaping.

In addition, the new title reflects the unique inter-disciplinary nature of the Department and the recent development trend in the industry. It signifies our commitment in architecture and civil engineering research and professional education.
