Professor Xu Jijian, Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry at City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK), has been awarded the Croucher Tak Wah Mak Innovation Award 2025 for his groundbreaking research. He will receive HK$5 million in funding over five years to advance his work on high-performance batteries for green energy storage, designed to function reliably between -40°C and 80°C. His research incorporates anion-redox cathodes for enhanced capacity, data-driven electrolyte screening to optimize ion transport, and metal anodes with artificial solid-electrolyte interphases to improve safety and durability.
