CityUHK Undergraduate Information Day 2024: Explore Your Future in Media and Communication

The Department of Media and Communication (COM) organized two sections of Consultation Sessions, Alumni Sharing, and facility tours during the CityUHK Undergraduate Information Day last Saturday (5 October 2024), attracting over 400 potential undergraduates and their parents to learn about the latest program structures and admission requirements. Moreover, more than 2,000 flyers were distributed at our booth.
At the Main Campus (Yeung Kin Man Academic Building – AC1), COM launched an event booth to showcase the unique characteristics of the programs. Most program leaders attended the Consultation Sessions, including Prof. Guanxiong Huang, Program Leader of the Major in Media and Communication (BAMDCM); Prof. Ki Joon Kim, Program Leader for the Major in Digital Television and Broadcasting (BATVB); Mr. Sing Lai Sunny Chan, Deputy Program Leader in BAMDCM; and Ms. Mandy Cheung, Deputy Program Leader in BATVB. They shared the vision and mission of their programs, as well as the future career paths for graduates. Nearly 300 attendees benefited from the program talks. Additionally, COM alumni Mr. Kenny Yung, Ms. Tiffany Chiu, Ms. Kimmy Leung, Mr. Charles Wong, and Mr. Jay Ng shared their experiences and career journeys through a video presentation.
In addition to the sharing sessions, the public had the opportunity to visit COM's professional facilities. Two facility tours were organized, allowing participants to explore COM’s resources, including the omnimedia digital newsroom, advertising design studio, and 3D virtual TV studio. Over 250 people were guided through these facilities, gaining insights into new digital media learning trends, and they also had the chance to role-play as anchors or photographers.
COM's bachelor programs cater to anyone with a passion for various fields, such as TV Journalism, New Media, Advertising, Public Relations, and Marketing.
