A Delegation Visit from Doha Institute for Graduate Studies and United Arab Emirates University

On March 18, 2025, a group of international delegates from Doha Institute for Graduate Studies and United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) visited the Department of Media and Communication (COM) at City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK).
The delegation included Prof. Amal Ghazal, Dean of the School of Social Sciences and Humanities at the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies; Prof. Julia Barbar, Assistant Professor of Public Administration at the same institute; Prof. Shujun Jiang, Associate Professor of Media and Creative Industries, United Arab Emirates University; and two UAEU representatives from the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning, Mr. Mohammed Qatrawi and Mr. Jeevan George.
During the visit, two PhD student Chang Bo and Zhang Leyi guided the delegates on a tour of CityUHK’s state-of-the-art academic facilities, including the Multimedia Digital Newsroom, the 3D Virtual TV Studio, and the Advertising Design and Shooting Studio. This provided delegates with insights into how students are prepared for careers in the media industry.
After the tour, the delegation participated in an academic meeting focused on various topics, particularly practices in digital learning. They also discussed potential avenues for collaboration with COM faculty members, including Prof. Huang Yi-hui, Head and Chair Professor of Communication and Media; Prof. Zhu Jian Hua Jonathan, Chair Professor of Computational Social Science; and Associate Professor Huang Guanxiong.
