COM Associate Professor Edmund LEE shares vision for inclusive digital health at Joint Seminar on Digital Frontiers in Healthcare

Professor Edmund Wei Jian LEE from City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK)'s Department of Media and Communication (COM) joined leading experts at the seminar on Digital Frontiers in Healthcare: Innovating Technologies for Clinical and Community Impact on April 15, 2025, where he discussed the importance of inclusive health systems at the community-level.
Co-organized by COM, the Institute of Digital Medicine, and Hong Kong Institute of AI for Science, the joint-seminar featured experts across multiple disciplines exploring digital innovations in healthcare.
Prof. LEE delivered a talk titled “Building an Inclusive Digital Health Ecosystem to Enhance Community Health and Well-Being.” In his presentation, he emphasized that the successful implementation of digital health solutions for active aging at the community level requires a concerted and coordinated effort among diverse partners, including policy makers, clinicians, elderly centers, caregivers, peer networks, and individuals.
The seminar also featured other experts such as Dr. Hai LI (Shenzhen Hospital, Southern Medical University), who discussed the use of brain-computer interface (BCI) interventions for rehabilitation, and Dr. Russell CHAN (E-SENSE Innovation & Technology Ltd), who showcased innovations in biomedical imaging for vital organ screening in the community. Additionally, Dr. Yinjun JIA from the Institute for AI Industry Research at Tsinghua University and Prof. Yuying Zhang from the Department of Data Science at CityUHK presented on the use of AI in drug discovery and personalized medicine.
