This talk will discuss how the quest of the structure of an atom has led to the discovery of quantum-mechanical laws, which completely changed our view of the universe. This talk will also discuss how the exotic properties of quantum mechanics such as superposition and entanglement are used in secured communication as well as quantum computing.

本講座將講述對原子結構的探究如何引伸出量子力學定律的發現，以至如何徹底改變了人類的世界觀。另外本講座亦會敘述量子力學的奇異特性，例如疊加和糾纏，是如何應用在保密通信和量子計算中。
