Columbia University accepted 7 students from the College of Science, including 4 from Computing Mathematics and 3 from Applied Physics, into the Joint Bachelor’s Degree Program for 2020 entry, marking a significant increase in the acceptance rate this year.
Dr Ivan Valerievich Borzenets, Assistant Professor at CityU’s Department of Physics, collaborated with scientists from Germany, Japan, and Korea on the World’s First Experimental Observation of a Kondo Cloud.
Professor Xunli Wang, Chair Professor and Head of the Department of Physics, has been elected Fellow of the Neutron Scattering Society of America for his “innovative neutron scattering studies at the interface between condensed matter physics and engineering materials science, and for the development of new neutron instrumentation to enable these seminal studies”.
Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Neutron Scattering Science and Technology Joint Laboratory, co-established by CityU and the Institute of High Energy Physics under the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), was officially commissioned on 15 January 2020, revealing the milestone of CityU contributing to the scientific advancement in the region.
Five faculty members from the College of Science have been listed as the “Highly Cited Researchers” by Clarivate Analytics for 2019 in respective categories of Chemistry, Cross-Field, Engineering and Materials Science. Congratulations for their exceptional achievements!
Three students from the College of Science namely Wang Bingchen (Computing Mathematics), Wang Jingyun (Computing Mathematics) and Wu Peilin (Applied Physics) have recently completed their studies in the CityU-Columbia University Joint Bachelor’s Degree Program.
