On Aug 9 (Wednesday) morning, our Hub Convenor Prof. Che Lan Linda Li and hub members Prof. Lin Feng, and Chui Chun Kit had a meeting with Department of Justice (DoJ) Deputy Solicitor General Peter Wong, Senior Government Counsel Bernard Yue, and Commissioner of the Joint Dispute Resolution Strategy Office/Senior Assistant Law Officer (Civil Law) (Mediation) Ada Chen.
DoJ officers introduced their effort which aims to facilitates Hong Kong becoming an international mediation hub, such as amendments of laws and ordinances and promotion of legal services of Hong Kong to other regions and countries. We also shared our ongoing work on Belt and Road and HK Professional Services and exchanged views on the challenges and opportunities of Hong Kong becoming a mediation hub of B&R Initiative.
