The College of Veterinary Medicine and Life Sciences was represented by three academic staff members at the 15th World Equine Veterinary Association Congress (http://www.chinaweva.org) which was held in Beijing from the 21st to the 23rd of April 2018.
The Congress consisted of professional training seminars for veterinarians and relevant students, technical sessions for equine practitioners or stakeholders, and aimed at sharing specialist expertise and innovative approaches to equine health.

Prof. Dirk Pfeiffer (Chair Professor of One Health) gave a presentation entitled ‘Equine influenza - Using epidemiology to contain an outbreak’ and Dr Sarah Rosanowski (Assistant Professor in Evidence Based Veterinary Medicine) presented her research about ‘Relationships between racing surface and horse safety’.
Dr Barbara Padalino (Assistant Professor in Animal Behaviour and Welfare) presented a poster about ‘Risks associated with injuries to horses during road transport for amateur and professional activities in New Zealand’ for which she won a Best Poster Award.
