October 10, 2018

DEANCityU’s Provost, Prof. Alex Jen, and the Dean of the Jockey Club College of Veterinary Medicine and Life Sciences, Prof. Michael Reichel, visited the College of Veterinary Medicine at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. The two universities have been collaborating for the past decade to establish a veterinary school in Hong Kong and the visit further strengthened this successful relationship.

Provost Jen and Dean Reichel started their tour with a visit to the Cornell Tech campus in New York which is purpose-built to integrate technology with innovation and discovery.

In Ithaca, they were given tours of the Cornell University Hospital for Animals, the Animal Health Diagnostic Center, the Equine Park, the Teaching Dairy Barn and research facilities. They also viewed state-of-the-art teaching facilities such as the simulation lab and the modular resource center. This was a couple of days packed full of a lot of information but an opportunity for the visitors to appreciate the facilities of one of the top three veterinary colleges in the world.

Provost Jen and Dean Reichel also had the opportunity to meet with Dean Warnick and other members of administration and faculty of the Cornell College of Veterinary Medicine to discuss innovations and collaborations, including the successful CityU-Cornell interdisciplinary PhD programme.
