July 22, 2019

A delegation from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Okayama University of Science in Japan recently visited the Jockey Club College of Veterinary Medicine and Life Sciences to share their experiences of setting up and running a veterinary degree programme in Asia.

Okayama University of Science is a private university and established their Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in 2018, with a Department of Veterinary Medicine and a Department of Veterinary Associated Science, which makes it the youngest veterinary school in Japan.

Prof. Noboru Fujitani (Head of the Biomedical Science Examination and Research Center at Okayama University of Science) and Prof. Tokuma Yanai discussed with the Dean, Prof. Michael Reichel, the idea of setting up a league of kindred spirits, including a proposal for an ‘Asian League of New Veterinary Schools’.

The visitors also enjoyed a tour of the City University Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory by its Director Dr Fraser Hill, and of the City University Veterinary Medical Centre led by Dr Duncan Hockley (Executive Director, CVHG Limited & CVDL Limited).
