
Professor Vanessa Barrs recently joined the Department of Infectious Diseases and Public Health as Chair Professor of Companion Animal Health and Disease.
She is a graduate of the University of Sydney’s Faculty of Veterinary Science, and completed a Master’s degree in bacteriology and a PhD in one-health mycology at the University of Sydney. Most recently she worked as Professor of Feline Medicine and Infectious Diseases at the University of Sydney and served as Department Head of Small Animal Medicine.
She will contribute to the teaching in the Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine programme and her research is focused on infectious pathogens at the human-animal interface, especially in the aeras of mycology and virolgy.
