SEE Welcomes Professor Benjamin Horton as Dean
The School of Energy and Environment (SEE) at City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) hosted a welcoming lunch to celebrate the arrival of Prof. Benjamin Horton as our new Dean. The event brought together faculty members and staff to mark this special occasion.
Prof. Horton joins SEE with an impressive academic and leadership background. Before his appointment, he served as the Director of the Earth Observatory of Singapore and was a Professor at Nanyang Technological University. He has held prestigious positions such as the AXA Chair in Natural Hazards and the President’s Chair in Earth Sciences. Renowned for his pioneering research on sea-level change, Professor Horton’s work has greatly advanced our understanding of climate science, earning him numerous accolades, including the Plinius Medal from the European Geosciences Union and the Voyager Award from the American Geophysical Union.
During the event, Prof. Horton delivered an inspiring speech outlining his vision for SEE’s future. A toasting ceremony followed, symbolizing the school’s excitement and optimism for his leadership. The celebration also featured a lively student performance by undergraduate talents IU Chak Lok and Jenny Ho, enhancing the welcoming atmosphere.
