Dr. DONG Zhiping received his B.Eng. degree in Electrical Engineering at Wuhan University of Technology in 2017, followed by an M.Eng. degree in Electrical Engineering from Chongqing University in 2020, and a PhD degree from School of Energy and Environment at City University of Hong Kong in 2024. He is currently a Research Assistant Professor in the School of Energy and Environment at CityU. He has published more than 15 peer-reviewed papers in leading journals and international conferences, all as the first author, one of which was selected as “the ESI highly-cited paper” in 2024. He has also co-authored one book in Wiley-IEEE Press. He has been honored with the Gold Medal at the 50th International Exhibition of Inventions Geneva in 2025 and the Outstanding Academic Performance Award at CityU many times. He has been invited as the tutorial session speaker, session chair, and special session organizer of international conferences. He is currently the Editorial Board Member, Guest Editor, and long-term Reviewer of many well-known SCI journals.

Research Interests

Dr. DONG Zhiping’s research work mainly focuses on energy conversion technologies in transportation electrification and robotics, including advanced control of electric machines, multi-phase machines and drives, high-power converters, multi-level converters, and hetero-topology converters.
