Using Throwable Wireless Microphone Technology to Enhance
Classroom Interaction in a Large Class

Introduction

In a traditional classroom setting, the passing of a regular microphone may discourage students to voice out and participate as moments of silence are often created. Throwable wireless microphone is an emerging technology to promote classroom interaction, participation and discussion by the blending of game elements in a large class setting. Through the throwing action of the wireless microphone, students are more actively engaged and become spontaneous in the lesson.

Although the principles of adopting the throwable wireless microphone technology are well established, there is a lack of empirical evidence on the actual impact on participants. In this study, Quasi experimental approach was adopted to find out the impact of the technology on students. Quantitative feedback was collected through two questionnaires to measure students’ learning experience and classroom interaction for statistical analysis.
