On 10 February 2021, with Year of the Ox right around the corner, President Way KUO joined the New Year celebration with residents at the Student Residence Multi-functional Hall, together with Professor Raymond CHAN Hon-fu, Vice-President (Student Affairs), Professor LO Tit-wing, Associate Vice-President (Student Affairs), and Professor Eric CHUI Wing-hong, Dean of Students.
Upon early arrivals, residents from different home countries like Germany, Indonesia, mainland China, Malaysia, Russia, South Korea, Taiwan, and the United Kingdom shared their online learning experience under the pandemic with the senior staff. They enjoyed a relaxing and warm afternoon.
With the anticipation of a new cultural immersion, the celebration kick-started with a warm welcoming and the distribution of a lucky gift pack with fruits, festive food, masks, and a poem written by the President. After sharing the words of encouragement, residents followed Professor KUO’s tutorial on cooking “Nian Gao” avidly. Residents showed their keen curiosity to learn progressively and understand its symbolism.
This activity was the cultural “celebration” with a warm welcoming for our residents whose lives are being disrupted by the coronavirus and a cultural ‘circulation’ between globally engaged CityU talents!
