The Government Career Fair 2024 took place on the CityUHK campus for the first time on 11 September 2024! Organised by the Career and Leadership Centre (CLC) of the Student Development Services (SDS) in collaboration with the Civil Service Bureau of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China (HKSAR Government), the Fair was an exceptional platform for CityUHK students across academic levels and disciplines to explore diverse career opportunities within the public sector.
Professor LEE Chun-sing, Provost and Deputy President of CityUHK, stated in his welcome remarks that CityUHK shares the Government’s unwavering commitment to striving towards a brighter and better Hong Kong by nurturing young talent who will serve and bring positive changes to society.
Mrs Ingrid YEUNG HO Poi-yan, Secretary for the Civil Service of HKSAR Government, said in her speech, “The Government has been making relentless efforts to attract aspiring young people to join the civil service in recent years. The Government Career Fair is one of our flagship initiatives aiming at providing an interactive platform for students to explore potential career pathways in the Government and learn more about job opportunities available within the civil service.”
Accompanied by senior management of the University led by Professor LEE, Mrs YEUNG visited the recruitment booths and interacted with CityUHK students to learn about their career aspirations, and encouraged them to join the civil service and build a better future together.
Apart from visiting the career booths to actively engage with representatives from 30 government departments and make their own discoveries on career opportunities in the civil service, many CityUHK students also attended career talks that offered one-stop overview and insights into the application process, career paths, and what it is like to join and work in the civil service.
Moving forward, CLC of the SDS will continue to organise various employment guidance and recruitment activities to support students' career planning and job search efforts.
