The CityUHK Christmas Concert, the highly anticipated annual year-end festive concert, concluded on 20 December 2024, marking a perfect end to the year.
The concert opened with a captivating performance by the Hong Kong percussion group “Rhythmaker”. The performance of Stool of Rock creatively used high stools, drum skins, and glowing drumsticks to produce versatile rhythms in the darkness. They continued to delight the audience with a selection of Christmas songs and a self-arranged medley of Disney movies theme songs, incorporating percussion instruments such as marimba and wind chimes.
Adding to the enchanting performances, Ms Bernice CHUA, the talented young pianist, not only presented a piano solo but also collaborated with the CityUHK Philharmonic Orchestra to perform Saint-Sa?ns' Piano Concerto No. 2 in G minor, Op. 22, a 25-minute piece that left the audience in awe.
CityUHK Philharmonic Orchestra, CityUHK Choir, and CityUHK Chinese Orchestra joined forces again to infuse the Christmas spirit, enchanting the audience with Christmas carols and festive melodies. In addition, this year’s concert featured dazzling Christmas decorations courtesy of the Balloon Arts Club, where CityUHK students crafted unique balloon designs to enhance the visual experience for the audience. Santa Claus even made a special appearance during intermission, spreading joy through candies and interaction with the audience, ensuring everyone had a joyful time.
