Title

Meeting the Sustainable Development Goals:
The Role of Education

Date:
18 April 2018
Speaker: Prof. Eric A. Hanushek

Abstract

In September 2015, 193 countries of the United Nations agreed to 17 Sustainable Development Goals that were designed to guide world development policies. If these Goals are completed, it would mean an end to extreme poverty, inequality and climate change by 2030. But there is little chance of accomplishing a significant part of these goals without a strong emphasis on one goal: ensuring quality education around the world. This lecture considers both the economic impact of school quality and the types of policies that are likely to lead to improvements in quality.
