This month’s Special Hall Night Talk featured Dr. Paulina Yenbic CHAN, an enigmatic and powerful woman with a remarkable contribution to the field of science and engineering. She believes in today’s world, science and art are inseparable, and an ideal world is an integration of science and art coming together with innovative technologies and real-life applications.
The talk was very interactive and engaging. Topics like big data, signal transmission and ethical use of big data were touched upon, which are highly relevant in today’s world. The most interesting discussion was about machine intelligence and human wisdom, wherein the audience gave their opinions about the topic. It was intriguing to know from Kevin, a Hall 2 resident, to share his knowledge about the limitations of artificial intelligence as he discussed CAPTCHAs. Bauhinia, the Hall 2 RT also added that humans have feelings and creative imagination, which is irreplaceable by any robots. Many other people from the audience discussed from the perspectives of their own field of study, both arts and sciences.
With advancements in technology, we have come a long way, and the differences between science and art have been minimized. It would be interesting to see what the future has in store for us regarding human wisdom and artificial intelligence. Just like always, the SPECIAL Hall night talk was a great success and was insightful for all.
