About the Conference 

Cyber-Joy Enjoy Lab is a team led by Dr. Annis Lai Chu Fung, Associate Professor at City University of Hong Kong, providing front-line counselling services and consultation for students and academic staff. On the research side, we have a team of research assistants and student helpers providing support to collaborate the best psychoeducation and self-help resources to reduce cyber aggression and cyberbullying. In the long run, the team also hopes to raise public awareness and develop resources for practitioners in the educational, psychology and counselling sectors to utilize when assisting those who are affected by cyberbullying. 

 

Conference Language

The conference will be conducted in English and Chinese (both Cantonese and Putonghua presentation are welcome).

Submission of Abstract/Practice Sharing Summary [Closed]

Abstract and practice sharing summary submissions are accepted for Cyber-Joy Enjoy Lab – International Conference on Cyber and Face-to-face Aggression and Bullying 2022. The uniqueness of the  conference comes from the diversity of voices that we hear at our event. 

 

We strongly encourage all researchers and practitioners working on issues related to aggression and victimization to submit an abstract to present online, whether you are a scholar, a clinician or any professional advocating for change on the ground in your local organization, school or university. Diverse voices and ideas are welcome across the globe to work together to reduce aggression.

Author Guidelines: 

Each abstract should belong to one of the following themes: 

  • Cyberbullying
  • Emotional or impulsive aggression
  • Social cognitive information processing models of aggression
  • Reactive and proactive aggression
  • Forms and functions of aggression
  • Prevention and/or intervention on aggressive behaviours
  • Aggressive Behavior: Signs, Causes, and Treatment 
  • Supportive prevention strategies in the school, educational, and cognitive–behavioural environments
  • Victimisation and counselling services
  • Cyber aggression and online victimisation
  • Risk factors that mediate the relationships among cyberbullying, victimisation, and mental health
  • The role of social networks as a risk factor in cyberbullying
  • Bullying and/or cyberbullying among children and youth
  • Aggression among children and youth
  • Children and youth in cyber world
  • Developmental trajectories of aggression
  • Gender and aggression
  • Emergence of aggression in early childhood
  • Aggression within a group
  • Coronavirus pandemic: impact on the cyber world and aggression

Each abstract / practice sharing summary should be written in English include the following information (250 - 400 words) : 

  • 3-6 keywords 

  • Introduction or rationale with a statement that outlines the background and significance of the study 

  • Objectives (of project and/or research) 

  • Methods or approach 

  • Results or practice/policy implications (if possible) 

  • Conclusion with a statement 

  • Ensure your abstract paper is free of plagiarism. 

 

We realise the closing date is not very far away. We have been delayed in making this announcement by the wave of the omicron COVID-19 variant that has been sweeping across the world in recent months. We appreciate your understanding in needing to offer a shorter time frame in which to submit your abstracts but we hope that you are all ready and waiting for this! 

Abstract Review Criteria?

  • Relevance to the conference topics  

  • The impacts of the study

  • Significance of the scientific question(s) and results  

  • Organisation (e.g., the abstract has a clear beginning, middle and end)  

  • Clear research question or hypotheses  

  • Sufficient background  

  • Clear experimental approach and rationale for the approach are clear 

  • Clear presented results

  • Reasonable and logical interpretation and conclusions

Presentation Format

Presentation Format: Pre-recorded Video 

Submitted abstracts will be reviewed and selected by the Cyber-Joy Enjoy Lab for video presentation. Selected presenters will be invited to submit a video of their pre-recorded presentation, it will be streamed during the conference period in June 2022. 

 

Video submission guidelines: 

  • Pre-recording can be accomplished using Zoom, Panopto, Microsoft PowerPoint or other software. 

  • Your presentation can be in either English or Chinese (Putonghua/Cantonese), powerpoint/presentation materials can be in either language as well.

  • Please include the following information on your Title slide: 
    1) Cyber-Joy Enjoy Lab – International Conference on Cyber and Face-to-face Aggression and Bullying 2022 
    2) Presentation topic 
    3) Name of Author(s)

  • File type: mp4 

  • File name: Please use your presentation topic and author’s name 

  • Maximum length: 30 mins
