“We are committed to promoting innovation and contributing to the well-being of society, and CityU is pleased to share its education and technology achievements with all sectors,” said Professor Way Kuo, President of CityU.

“The MOU signed with Ocean Park is a major milestone in our development. It provides a collaborative framework for academic research and student activities, signifying that CityU and Ocean Park, both innovation-oriented organisations, will share technological achievements with the public through creative education and an entertaining experience,” he said.

Under the MOU, students from the University’s Jockey Club College of Veterinary Medicine and Life Sciences will gain valuable opportunities for job shadowing at Ocean Park under the close supervision of a team of experienced veterinarians.

In addition, the Park’s Zoological Operations and Conservation Department will partner with CityU’s School of Creative Media to enhance the guest journey experience at the Sea Jelly Spectacular attraction, while the University’s School of Data Science will refine data collection practices for a better understanding of animal behaviour and expanding the relevant database.

Ocean Park and the Ocean Park Conservation Foundation, Hong Kong also announced the grand opening of the Hong Kong Marine Life Stranding and Education Centre. With a necropsy and virtopsy facility, the Centre offers all-round analysis of potential causes of injury and death involving marine life as well as data-driven insights into shaping future monitoring and conservation efforts.
