MoU for promoting joint research in materials technology and climate sustainability signed by CityU and NUS

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by City University of Hong Kong (CityU) and the National University of Singapore (NUS), marking a new milestone in the cooperation between CityU and NUS in promoting joint research and development activities in the areas of materials technology and climate sustainability.

The MoU was signed by Professor Freddy Boey Yin Chiang, President of CityU, and Professor Tan Eng Chye, President of NUS. It was witnessed by Mr Lester Garson Huang, Council Chairman of CityU, and Mr George Loh, Senior Director, Office of the Deputy President (Research and Technology) of NUS.

Professor Boey of CityU said, “CityU is committed to promoting materials technology and climate sustainability in Hong Kong and beyond. It is mutually beneficial for both regional leading universities to join hands again and strengthen our collaboration in more areas.”

“Universities play a key role in driving research and education to address complex challenges in climate change and sustainability. Through our partnership with City University of Hong Kong, we will be able to leverage our individual strengths in research to advance knowledge sharing and new discoveries in the areas of materials and sustainability,” Professor Tan of NUS said.

Under the MoU, CityU’s College of Science, College of Engineering, and School of Energy and Environment, and NUS’s College of Design and Engineering and Faculty of Science will collaborate on research projects of mutual interest in materials technology and climate sustainability. The MoU will also facilitate exchanges and collaboration between staff and students in research and development activities.
