A high-level delegation from the Zhejiang Province Human Resources and Social Security Department discussed topics such as talent and research development and opportunities for collaboration with senior management at City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) during a visit on 28 March.

The delegation was led by Mr Wu Weibin, Director-General of the Zhejiang Province Human Resources and Social Security Department and Director-General of the Zhejiang Provincial Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs. It included Mr Zhao Xiongwen, Deputy Minister of the Zhejiang Provincial Party Committee Organization Department and Deputy Director of the Talent Office of Zhejiang Provincial Committee; and Mr Zhang Xuming, Deputy Director-General of the Zhejiang Province Human Resources and Social Security Department and Deputy Director-General of the Zhejiang Provincial Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs, among others.

The CityUHK senior management team that greeted the delegation included Professor Freddy Boey, President and University Distinguished Professor; Professor Michael Yang Mengsu, Senior Vice-President (Innovation and Enterprise); Professor Chen Fu-rong, Associate Vice-President (Mainland Collaboration); and Professor Johnny Ho Chung-yin, Associate Vice-President (Enterprise), among others.

At the meeting, President Boey thanked the delegation for their visit. Professor Yang then introduced CityUHK’s latest developments and achievements in innovation and entrepreneurship, including research outcomes from the mainland research institutes at CityUHK.

Additionally, Professor Yang stated that CityUHK will continue to benefit society by promoting industry-academia-research collaboration and actively nurturing talent in innovation and technology through the refreshed entrepreneurial ecosystem built around initiatives like HK Tech 300 and the CityUHK Academy of Innovation.

Mr Wu provided an overview of the work and talent policies of the Zhejiang Province Human Resources and Social Security Department to CityUHK representatives. Both parties then engaged in fruitful discussions to explore the feasibility of further deepening talent exchange and research collaboration between Zhejiang and Hong Kong.

The delegation also learned more about CityUHK’s cutting-edge research capabilities during visits to the State Key Laboratory of Terahertz and Millimeter Waves and the State Key Laboratory of Marine Pollution.
