On behalf of the Continental Organizing Committee, we are pleased to announce that the International Conference on Neutron Scattering 2022 (ICNS 2022) will take place in Buenos Aires, Argentina, from August 21 to 25, 2022.
The ICNS 2022 will be the largest international platform for sharing and exchanging the latest exciting advances in neutron scattering science, including a broad range of topics.

多物理譜儀是一臺中子全散射譜儀,可用于不同有序度材料的結構研究。中國科學院高能物理研究所東莞研究部中子科學部副主任張俊榮說,中國散裂中子源聯合東莞理工學院、香港城市大學建設的多物理譜儀,今年上半年完成調試。目前,申請利用這臺譜儀做實驗的科研項目有130多項。
多物理譜儀為「粵港澳中子散射科學技術聯合實驗室」提供關鍵支撐。這個實驗室于2020年1月由散裂中子源科學中心、東莞理工學院、香港城市大學共同建設。目前,香港城市大學專門為此申請了五項實驗。

The installation of Multi-Physics Instrument (MPI) was completed. On January 26, 2021, it received the neutron beam from the target station, marking the instrument's successful completion after two years of construction. MPI is CSNS's forth instrument as well as the first user instrument. It is also the first neutron total scattering instrument in China.
MPI will mainly be used for research on materials with different ordered structures, focusing on structural analysis of long-range order and locally disordered materials, and long-range disorder and short-range ordered materials. It will serve both the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong users as an effective tool to probe materials, especially for research on materials science, condensed matter physics, life science and nano-materials.

Our project coordinator, Professor WANG Xun-Li, Head and Chair Professor of Physics Department, City University of Hong Kong has been awarded the Croucher Senior Research Fellowship 2021 for his excellent scientific research achievements.
Professor Wang conducts research at the interface between condensed matter physics and materials science. He applies state-of-the-art neutron and synchrotron scattering techniques to study phase transformation and deformation in advanced materials. He has also made major contributions to the development of instrumentation that have enabled these seminal studies. Professor Wang’s current research interests include structure and dynamics in metallic glass, deformation behaviours in high entropy alloys and magneto-elastic coupling in magnetic shape memory alloys.
With the Croucher Senior Research Fellowship, Professor Wang will investigate deformation at ultralow temperatures, a new regime where the diminishing atomic mobility and the competition of different crystalline phases have enabled a rich variety of novel deformation mechanisms.

Our project team member, Prof. LU Xinhui, Assistant Professor, Department of Physics, The Chinese University of Hong Kong has earned the honour of being named in the list of “Highly Cited Researchers 2020” as among the world’s top researchers who have demonstrated significant and broad influence reflected in their publication of multiple papers, highly cited by fellow academics.
“Highly Cited Researchers 2020”, released by the Clarivate Analytics, identifies the most influential researchers as determined by their peers around the world. The honour is given to researchers who published a high number of papers that rank in the top 1% by citations in their respective fields of study and year of publication. The 2020 list includes 6,167 highly cited researchers in various fields from more than 60 countries and regions.

The joint laboratory co-established by City University of Hong Kong (CityU) and the Institute of High Energy Physics under the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) officially opened on February 27, 2019.
Distinguished guests attending the launch were Professor Way Kuo, CityU President; Professor Yang Chen-ning, Nobel Laureate in Physics; Professor Chen Hesheng, Director of CSNS and a Member of CAS; and Professor Wang Xunli, CityU’s Chair Professor of Physics and Head of the Department of Physics. Professor Chen and Professor Wang are both co-Directors of the Joint Laboratory.
The Joint Laboratory has been supported by CAS and Hong Kong’s Croucher Foundation since 2015. It was approved by CAS and ranked 1st among the five newly added joint laboratories after an evaluation in October 2018.
Prof. CHEN Hesheng and Prof. WANG Xun-Li wrote and published an article, titled "China's first pulsed neutron source" in 2016 on Nature Materials. They provided an overview of The China Spallation Neutron Source which was expected to produce its first beam in 2017. Additionally, they also explained what it means for science in China and elsewhere.
