Undergraduate plus Master's Degree Programme (BEngBME + MSBME)

As part of the CityUHK Talents Programme to attract high caliber students and inspire existing Year 1 students to raise their academic performance, the university introduced “Undergraduate plus Master's Degree Programmes”, where students will be awarded a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree together upon completion of their study.

The BEngBME and MSBME two-degree programme is proposed to better nurture high caliber students by addressing their different advanced learning needs, aligning with the CityUHK Talents Programme. The basic idea is to offer more fruitful education experience for outstanding CityUHK undergraduates with graduate-level courses during their undergraduate study. The students’ efforts and outstanding performance will be recognized by obtaining the additional MSc degree in Biomedical Engineering. It is hoped that the proposed two-degree programme can motivate the more ambitious and outstanding students to obtain better learning outcomes.

What is an “Undergraduate plus Master's Degree Programme”?

Normally, a Bachelor’s degree at CityUHK requires students to complete 120 credit units in 4 years, and a Master’s degree requires full-time students to complete 30 credit units in 1 year. Students in an “Undergraduate plus Master's Degree Programme” will receive a conditional offer for a Master's degree programme when they join CityUHK as undergraduate students. They can benefit from higher-level courses, including those with research elements and normally taught at the postgraduate level, during their undergraduate study. They will be awarded the Bachelor of Engineering in Biomedical Engineering (BEngBME) and Master of Science in Biomedical Engineering (MSBME) degrees upon completion of the programme.

Latest information on tuition fees of master’s degree programme is available at the website of the Chow Yei Ching School of Graduate Studies: http://www.jvrhmfr.xyz/sgs/tuitionfee/sf_p69.htm, which is subject to revision every year.

To continue in the Programme, students are required to achieve a CGPA of 3.40 or above by the end of Semester B each year. Students who fail the CGPA requirement can continue to complete the regular BEng programme they enrolled in until graduation.
