Duties

  1. Teach Biomedical Sciences / Biological Sciences and related disciplines at undergraduate and postgraduate levels;
  2. Be subject leaders in individual’s specialism providing leadership in teaching;
  3. Be assigned responsibility as course co-ordinators, contributing to the planning and development of courses and study programmes of the Department, including the servicing courses arranged by Department/School in other units;
  4. Undertake teaching and teaching-related duties, as well as learning support and professional activities to enhance student educational experience; and
  5. Share administrative duties as required by the Head of Department/School.

Requirements

A relevant postgraduate degree with teaching or professional experience in the broadly-defined areas of Biomedical Sciences, particularly cellular pathology, medical microbiology, hematology, or clinical chemistry. Medical Laboratory Technologists (MLT) Board registration is required.

Single-Cell Multi-Omics Study of Atherosclerotic Vascular Disease: Narrowing the Gap Between Bench and Bedside

Duties

The appointee will report to the Principal Investigators/Project Coordinators and work closely with other team members of the Project. Main duties include to:

  1. A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent;
  2. At least 2 years of relevant working experience (Candidates with less experience may be considered);
  3. Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua);
  4. Strong proficiency in computer software application including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Chinese word processing;
  5. Good organisational and problem-solving skills; being self-motivated and resourceful;
  6. Being a good team player with a strong sense of responsibility, self-motivation, and attention to details; and
  7. Ability to work independently and effectively in a team are required.

Administrative & Services Position

Scientific Officer

Responsible for providing high-quality service to academic staff and students in biomedical sciences related teaching programmes. Main duties include to:

  1. provide full spectrum support to teaching practical in areas of biomedical sciences/medical laboratory technology;
  2. lead and coordinate the programme accreditation exercise;
  3. arrange and coordinate clinical attachment/placement, assess the students’ reports for clinical attachment, and visit the clinical laboratories for collaboration and review of students’ performance;
  4. support faculty in the development and delivery of biomedical sciences courses, and maintain the core and teaching facilities in the highest standard;
  5. conduct risk assessments for the health and safety of students and other laboratory users;
  6. operate, maintain and calibrate instruments and equipment;
  7. provide training courses to new laboratory users; and
  8. perform any other duties as assigned.

Responsible for the operation of departmental teaching laboratories, function rooms and other laboratory facilities. Main duties include the following:

  1. Assist in teaching practical in areas of biomedical sciences/medical laboratory technology;
  2. Assist in management of the core and teaching facilities;
  3. Enforce safety for the teaching laboratories;
  4. Operate and maintain instruments and equipment;
  5. Provide stock keeping and inventory for teaching materials; and
  6. Provide any other assignments.

Shift duty and working on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays may be required.
