梁美儀教授研究團隊發現在啟德河的水樣本內檢測到34種藥物殘留。
香港城市大學化學系講座教授梁美儀領導團隊,參與了由英國約克大學領導的全球性的河藥物污染研究。研究於2017至2019年間進行,涵蓋104個地區中258條河,包括本港的啟德河和林村河,並化驗樣本內61種日常生活中常用的藥物,包括13種抗生素。
結果發現,全球有25.7%的採樣點藥物濃度超標,污染最嚴重的河流是位於巴基斯坦的拉合爾,其次為玻利維亞的拉巴斯與埃塞俄比亞的阿的斯阿貝巴,番禺1條河亦上榜,排第16。低收入、發展中國家驗出常見藥物為止痛藥、抗生素;高收入、發達國家則是抗血壓、抗抑鬱藥最普遍。本港啟德河和林村河的污染,分別被排名全球第29位和第70位,其中驗出最常見的為鎮痙劑、抗敏藥、降血糖藥等。啟德河樣本驗出34種藥物,包括6種抗生素,是全球最多,而抗生素環丙沙星和克拉黴素的環境濃度,超出安全閾值分別1.3和5.5倍;林村河亦驗出2種不同抗生素等。
