President’s Lecture Series

Vaccines have been a cornerstone of global public health and have resulted in the control and even extinction of many deadly diseases in humans and animals. Vaccines have saved countless lives, and our modern and highly interconnected world is unthinkable without their protection. Professor Nikolaus Osterrieder, Dean, Jockey Club College of Veterinary Medicine and Life Sciences, will discuss different types of vaccines and how they have been prudently employed during the current pandemic caused by SARS-CoV-2 at the President’s Lecture Series: Excellence in Academia on 8 October. He will present the development of rationally engineered SARS-CoV-2 vaccines that are based on a modified live virus platform; have unprecedented efficacy against all current variants; and are safe and easy to produce and store.
