Professor Stephen Shum Wan-hang, Associate Provost (Quality Assurance & Accountability) and Professor in the Department of Decision Analytics and Operations, has been appointed interim Dean of the College of Business effective from 19 May 2025.
Biostatistics Workshop
The Department of Biostatistics will hold a workshop titled “Statistical Lessons of HK Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma Trials and Related Topics” from June 12 to 13. The workshop will focus on nasopharyngeal carcinoma, a rare form of cancer that is prevalent in southern China, discussing epidemiology, treatment outcomes, and prevention strategies. Dr Fan Yubin, a postdoc from the Department of Electrical Engineering (EE), has won the Best Paper Award at the Optics & Photonics International Congress 2025. Supervised by Professor Tsai Din-ping, Chair Professor of EE, the winning paper is titled ¨Metalens array for high-dimensional quantum random number generator〃. The Congress brings together researchers from a broad range of fields, such as biomedicine, nano-photonics, X-ray optics, high energy density science, power transmission, and space and earth science.
Professor Yao Jin, Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering (EE), in the research team of Professor Tsai Din-ping, Chair Professor of EE, won the Best Paper Award at the 11th International Conference on Surface Plasmon Photonics (SPP) held in Tokyo. The winning paper is titled ¨Nonlocal meta-lens for spin-multiplexing focusing and imaging〃. The International Conference on SPP is regarded as the premier event in the field of plasmonics.
