Art exhibitions
Artists and intellectuals are exploring new spaces for creative self-expression as Myanmar’s political reforms unfold. Today writers give readings at literary festivals, musicians perform rap and hip hop in concert and painters exhibit canvases that for decades could be shared only with trusted friends. "Myanmar: Faces and Places" presents the work of about a dozen leading contemporary artists. Organised by the Department of Public Policy, the exhibition lasts until 27 October in the Library.

A collection of Chinese ink colour paintings titled "LotusTian Xing" by Lam Tian Xing will be on show at Singing Waves Gallery from 5 October until 17 November. This renowned contemporary artist has developed his own profound style using ink colour painting, which harmoniously blends the traditional framework of Chinese ink colour paintings with bold Western techniques in rich and vibrant colours, with layered images that are both abstract and concrete.
