Rewards for research excellence
CityU has introduced a new Research Excellence Awards (REA) Scheme to recognize and reward research excellence. The Scheme reflects the University's commitment to an environment conducive to research at an internationally competitive level, and aims to enhance role-related performance in the delivery of its research agenda. Applications for the awards will be invited biennially, and will be assessed by a selection panel.

Application is now open for the first REA. Each application should summarize the research undertaken by the researcher/team, its significance and its contributions to society. The deadline for application is 30 June, and the results of the Selection Panel's assessment are expected in October 2007.

Up to five awards will be granted, each carrying a cash prize of HK$15,000 and a trophy. A Grand Award of HK$25,000 may be granted to give recognition to exceptional achievements. Certificates of Merit will also be awarded.

Staff support for students encouraged
