
Professor Nora Tam, Chair Professor of Department of Chemistry, has been conferred the title of Emeritus Professor upon her retirement on 1 July 2020 in recognition of her distinguished contributions to education, research and professional services during her service at the University.
Professor Tam is a renowned biologist specialising in environmental biology and applied ecology. She has played an important role in establishing various research centres, including the State Key Laboratory in Marine Pollution, Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology, China: Technology for Environmental and Eco-habilitation (2009 to present); and the Centre for Marine Environmental Research and Innovative Technology under Area of Excellence Scheme, Hong Kong SAR: Mitigation, Control and Bioremediation Technologies (2004-2015). She has also served concurrently as Deputy Director / Director of Futian-CityU Mangrove Research and Development Centre since 2003. With her expertise in biological waste treatment, bioremediation and mangrove ecology, she has been serving on high impact committees locally, nationally and internationally, suggesting her reputation in the professional area.
