The College of Science congratulates Professor Alain Aspect on winning the Nobel Prize in Physics 2022 with John F. Clauser and Anton Zeilinger, “for experiments with entangled photons, establishing the violation of Bell inequalities and pioneering quantum information science”.
CityU’s State Key Laboratory of Marine Pollution (SKLMP) had been officially designated as a Regional Centre of Excellence in Marine Pollution by the Partnership Council of the Partnerships in Environmental Management for the Seas of East Asia (PEMSEA).
We are proud to share that, young scientists from CityU College of Science have received the Excellent Young Scientists Fund under the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC). CityU has a total of 4 awardees this year, and 2 of them are from the Department of Chemistry, under the College of Science.
Professor Philippe G. Ciarlet, University Distinguished Professor in the College of Science, and Professor Tai-Chu Lau, Chair Professor of Department of Chemistry, have been conferred the title of Emeritus Professor upon retirement on 1 July 2022 in recognition of their distinguished contributions to education, research and professional services during their service at the University.
Six students from the College of Science have been admitted to the Joint Bachelor’s Degree Programme for entry in the 2022/23 academic year.
Three local start-ups led by faculty member and alumni of the College of Science have been selected to receive investment funding up to HK$1 million each, under the HK Tech 300 Angel Fund from City University of Hong Kong.
