Two world-class scientists at City University of Hong Kong (CityU) have been elected Fellows of the European Academy of Sciences (EurASc) in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the field of mathematics. The newly elected academicians are Professor Felipe Cucker and Professor Yang Tong, both from CityU’s Department of Mathematics.
Professor Alex Jen Kwan-yue, Provost and Chair Professor of Chemistry and Materials Science at City University of Hong Kong (CityU), has been elected Fellow of the European Academy of Sciences (EurASc) in recognition of his profound contributions to research on science and technology, in particular in the area of materials science.
Professor Ruiqin Zhang of the Department of Physics at CityU was cited by APS “for path-breaking contributions to the development of quantum-mechanical many-body methods, as well as modelling and simulation of large electronic systems such as those with nanosurfaces, promoting their applications in the fields of environment, energy, biology and medicine”.
Ten faculty members from City University of Hong Kong (CityU) have been named as Highly Cited Researchers for 2018 by Clarivate Analytics, reflecting the high academic standard of our faculty and our excellent research performance. The list recognises scientists and social scientists who have demonstrated substantial influence in their fields through publication of multiple highly cited papers ranked in the top 1% by citations between 2006 and 2016.
A renowned scholar in neutron scattering at City University of Hong Kong (CityU) has been elected Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). He is the only scholar elected from Hong Kong this year.
