A research team of marine ecologists led by Professor Kenneth Leung Mei-yee, Director of the State Key Laboratory of Marine Pollution at City University of Hong Kong (CityU) and Chair Professor of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry in the Department of Chemistry, has generated promising results for enhancing marine biodiversity on seawalls in the western waters of Hong Kong via eco-engineered tiles.
The College of Science has launched its CityU STEM Series, a video series with fruitful Science content about Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics. Each video is guided by a CityU scientist with content suitable for students of secondary schools.
Professor Nora Tam, Chair Professor of Department of Chemistry, has been conferred the title of Emeritus Professor upon her retirement on 1 July 2020 in recognition of her distinguished contributions to education, research and professional services during her service at the University.
Dr Yun Wah Lam, Associate Professor of the Department of Chemistry, was recognized by the Innovative CityU-Learning Awards 2020, for his proposal “ZOOMing into a scientific discussion: learning to ask, not to answer.”
According to the Nature Index 2019, CityU has accomplished good results in the chemistry aspect, being ranked 53rd in China
Dr Chun Kit Kwok, Assistant Professor from the Department of Chemistry, has received the “Croucher Innovation Awards” presented by the Croucher Foundation for his research on RNA (ribonucleic acid).
