In summer 2019, the College of Science (CSCI) jointly organized four Cultural and Language Immersion Scheme (CALIS) programmes with the College of Engineering. A total of 18 CSCI students took part in one of the progammes run by our UK partner universities including the Edinburgh Napier University, Middlesex University and Sheffield Hallam University.
Ms. Christelle Fung Ka Yee, a third year student from the Department of Chemistry, was awarded the Young Investigator Poster Prize in the Bosch Institute Annual Scientific Meeting, which was held at the University of Sydney on 1 August 2019.
Organized by the College of Science, the first Science Summer Camp came to successful completion in July 2019. As a new initiative of the College, the Science Summer Camp is a 5-day programme with an aim to bringing together outstanding prospective PhD candidates who plan to embark on PhD studies in science and related disciplines.
Chair Professor István T. Horváth of the Department of Chemistry at City University of Hong Kong (CityU) has been elected External Member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, Budapest, Hungary for his significant contributions to catalysis and green chemistry.
The creativity behind applying technology to solve real-life problems by students from the College of Science and College of Engineering at City University of Hong Kong (CityU) was unleashed at the Student Project Exhibition from 26 to 27 June. The projects highlight how students have discovered smart solutions to help the elderly and the people in need.
