The College of Science has been in partnership with different world renowned universities to offer Joint Bachelor's Degree Programmes for our Bachelor of Science students. These programmes strengthen the profiles of students and have been well received. Many graduates also expressed appreciation towards the opportunities offered and how the programmes helped pave their career path.
The new programmes include a Bachelor of Science degree programme with a stream option in Global Research Enrichment and Technopreneurship (GREAT), a law–math double degree programme, and joint bachelor’s degree programmes in partnership with the University of Edinburgh and the University of Manchester in the UK.
A research team of marine ecologists led by Professor Kenneth Leung Mei-yee, Director of the State Key Laboratory of Marine Pollution at City University of Hong Kong (CityU) and Chair Professor of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry in the Department of Chemistry, has generated promising results for enhancing marine biodiversity on seawalls in the western waters of Hong Kong via eco-engineered tiles.
Professor Raymond Chan, Dean of the College of Science and Professor Tong Yang, Chair Professor of the Department of Mathematics, have been elected as Fellows of the American Mathematical Society (AMS) of Class 2021.
Ms. Mei Yan Li, a third-year student from the Department of Mathematics, was awarded the Outstanding Internship Award from Carrier Hong Kong Limited in recognition of her excellent performance during her summer internship under the Industrial Attachment Scheme.
The College of Science has launched its CityU STEM Series, a video series with fruitful Science content about Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics. Each video is guided by a CityU scientist with content suitable for students of secondary schools.
