Chemical engineering of blue organic light-emitting diode (OLED) materials for highly efficient and stable OLEDs
Deuteration has proven to be an effective way to enhance the chemical stability of OLED materials. The heavier deuterium suppresses the high frequency vibration of the C-H bond, resulting in higher bond dissociation energy (BDE). To construct stable and efficient red, green and blue OLED devices, this project will focus on developming efficient, chemically stable blue OLED materials by introducing different isotopes (e.g. 2H and 15N ). The newly synthesised isotopic materials are expected to be commercialised in the display industry.
