AI-powered smart fabric for sports applications and more
SensAI provides motion-sensing AI powered smart fabric that empowers athletes with higher training efficiency with maximum comfort. It also offers solutions in medical-, military- and transportation-related applications.
We focus on creating innovative textiles that integrate electronic components and functionality to enable new applications and functionalities. We have designed a yarn-based strain sensor consisting of a flexible polyurethane (PU) yarn core and a conductive yarn twisted onto the PU yarn. The sensor is fibre-like in size and changes its electrical resistance when physically stretched. Based on this change in resistance, an electrical signal is generated and engineered to represent the attached joint angle. The solution to be developed is to combine the sensor fabric, wireless signal processing and sample applications into an integrated system. Our sensing principle is the flexible yarn-based strain sensor embedded in the fabric of sportswear. Multiple sensors can cover a body joint, whose morphology naturally follows the joint shape and posture.
