Pet probiotics development
Dogs and cats are important companions for people, and many pet owners consider their pets to be part of the family. Therefore, there has been growing interest in the health and well-being of pets in recent decades. As in humans, the animal’s gut plays a critical role in maintaining proper intestinal homeostasis, nutrient acquisition, immune response, emotional state, and so forth, which affects the animal’s health. Disruption of the gut microbiota can lead to the development or exacerbation of disease pathogenesis. This project aims to develop high quality, clinically relevant probiotics for pets. We leverage our expertise in animal gut microbiology with years of hands-on experience in pre/probiotics research and research-level biotechnology at CityU to provide professionally developed probiotic products to improve constipation, boost peristalsis and protect and maintain gastrointestinal health in dogs and cats on a daily basis.
