The College of Business (CB) of City University of Hong Kong (CityU) and the Jiangsu Office of Hong Kong’s Wen Wei Po signed a collaborative agreement on 16 August in Yangzhou for a senior executive education programme.

It will be integrated with our existing Executive Master of Business Administration (International) programme and targets senior executives from the financial sector on the mainland.

The agreement marks a new milestone in CityU’s efforts to develop senior training programmes for professionals on the mainland, and it is yet another partnership between CityU’s College of Business and a top mainland corporation.

Earlier successful CB partnerships include EMBA programmes with Beijing Capital International Airport, Industrial and Commerce Bank of China (Guangzhou) and Invesco Great Wall Fund Management Company Limited.

Through this new partnership with Wen Wei Po, the University hopes to contribute to China’s economic development and enhance the synergy between Hong Kong and the mainland. The training programme will introduce best practices and modern management knowledge from Hong Kong as an international financial centre to the mainland, fulfilling the increasing demand for talented business executives following China’s rapid economic development and internationalisation.

At the signing ceremony on 16 August, Professor Way Kuo, CityU President, said that the CB has nurtured a large number of business leaders and has accumulated substantial experience in professional management and teaching through the EMBA programme since its launch in 1997.

“As a member of the Executive MBA Council, CityU’s College of Business emphasises the curriculum design and teaching quality of its EMBA programme by keeping abreast of international trends. The College’s mission is to contribute to business management education on the mainland and the economic development of the internationalisation and modernisation process.”

The Jiangsu Office of Wen Wei Po was represented by Mr Xia Yuanwei, the Chief Representative.

In addition, officials of Yangzhou Municipal Government also attended the ceremony. They were Mr Wen Daocai, Vice Mayor of Yangzhou City; Mr Yang Min and Mr Fang Jun, Director and Deputy Director of Office for Overseas Chinese; Mr Kong Lingjun, Party Secretary of Guangling District; Mr Zhang Guilian, Mr Xue Gaohui and Mr Wang Hongjun, Deputy Heads of Guangling District.
