Seven outstanding academics at City University of Hong Kong (CityU) have been included in the inaugural National Science and Technology Programmes Expert Database in Hong Kong.

The Ministry of Science and Technology has approved the inclusion of the seven CityU scholars for the pilot programme of the database.

Inclusion will boost CityU scholars’ participation in national science and technology projects, and will strengthen exchanges and research collaborations across the border.

The seven academics are:

l Professor Paul Lam Kwan-sing, a leading expert on environmental science, Vice-President (Student Affairs), and Director of the State Key Laboratory in Marine Pollution;

l Professor Lu Jian, an expert in mechanical engineering, civil engineering and mechanics, Fellow of the National Academy of Technologies of France, and Dean of the College of Science and Engineering;

He said the inclusion of all our nominated academics in the database is an indication of CityU’s academic strength. He hoped more CityU academics would join the database in the future to further promote technology and research development in Hong Kong and the mainland.

Academics listed in the Expert Database will support the work of the Ministry of Science and Technology.
