Among the guests were Professor Claude Cohen-Tannoudji, the 1997 Nobel Laureate in Physics, and Professor Jean Salecon, former president of France’s Académie des Sciences, along with many young professionals from various academic disciplines. A number of existing and aspiring faculty members from top French institutions brought their resumes and other supporting documents to the reception, expressing strong interest in faculty and research positions at the University.

 

CityU’s delegation included Professor Lu Jian, Dean of the College of Science and Engineering, Professor Yan Houmin, Head of the Department of Management Sciences and designated Dean of the College of Business, Dr David Cheng Xing, Associate Vice-President (Mainland and External Affairs), and Ms Candy Chouk Yin, External Liaison Manager of the Mainland and External Affairs Office.

 

Professor Kuo gave a presentation on CityU’s vision for the future and introduced opportunities for faculty positions, research collaboration, and student exchanges. Professor Kuo, together with delegation members, held extensive discussions with the audience regarding CityU’s various academic programmes, the future development of its colleges and schools, and strategic goals for internationalisation.

 

Earlier in the day, Professor Kuo and the CityU delegation met with 10 Board members of the French Chinese Association of Scientists in Paris. This association includes prominent Chinese scientists working in French elite institutions and research laboratories. Both sides agreed to develop a closer collaborative relationship in the future.
