Outstanding teens impress with 3A qualities

Exceptionally talented secondary school students have been recognised with a special award from the College of Business (CB) at City University of Hong Kong (CityU).

Thirty successful students were presented with “3A Outstanding Student Awards” at a ceremony on 30 November in appreciation of their academic excellence and personal development over the past year.

The CB award scheme is the first of its kind introduced by a higher education institution in Hong Kong to acknowledge secondary school students with “3A” qualities, i.e. ability, attitude, and accomplishment. The awards cover academic results, wide-ranging extra-curricular activities, essays and short videos presentations.

The aim of the awards is to promote whole-person development at a deeper level than grades can ever reflect. Nominated by their school principals, 73 shortlisted candidates were judged on the merits of their 1-minute self-introduction videos.

Among the 30 awardees were Wong Sze-ting, a member of Hong Kong’s Wheelchair Fencing Team, and Parco Wong Pak-ko, the team leader of the horseshoe crab rearing programme, which was supervised by CityU. Both shortlisted students and awardees were presented with certificates by CB representatives.

More than a hundred students, teachers, and parents joined the prize presentation ceremony.
