Forty three students from local secondary schools attended the summer enrichment programme Linguistics Wonderland from 28 to 31 July, organised by the Department of Linguistics and Translation of City University of Hong Kong.

 

The aim of the programme was to stimulate young people’s interest in learning about languages and to foster passion for knowledge and discovery in everyday life.

 

Students had the chance to be exposed to the diverse features of language systems and the various ways of how linguistic knowledge can be applied to everyday life through a variety of teaching and learning activities such as lectures, group work, and games.

 

The programme has run successfully for five consecutive summers since 2010. The participating students were recommended by their school principals and selected by the Department.
