CityU’s Project Flame promotes zero carbon life

Terry Lam

Reducing carbon emissions and resolving global warming should not be just a dream but a possible action in our daily life.

The event “Zero Carbon Inno-Day: Sustainable Living 2016” held at City University of Hong Kong (CityU) on 9 April suggested various ways, from meals and transport to entertainment, for participants to start making contributions to zero carbon life.

The event was co-organised by CityU’s Project Flame and Jockey Club CarbonCare Open Innovation Lab (COIL), with sponsorship from The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust.

Mr Sunny Lee Wai-kwong, CityU’s Vice-President (Administration), Mr Lee Chi-ming, Chairman of COIL, and Ms Vivian Lee, Senior Charities Manager of The Hong Kong Jockey Club, officiated at the opening ceremony.

Various activities hosted by environmental protection experts, academics and representatives of green corporations explored the infinite possibility of zero carbon life, including a seminar on the impact of food production on the environment and a game concerning climate change negotiations called “If I were Obama”.

Dr Yanto Chandra, Assistant Professor from CityU’s Department of Public Policy and Department of Management, hosted a workshop titled “Green Lifestyle with Bricolage” for brainstorming innovative uses for idle household items.
