CityU introduces flexible admission arrangement for 2020/21

CityU admission

A more flexible admission arrangement will be introduced by City University of Hong Kong (CityU) in the academic year 2020/21. The new arrangement is aimed at applicants who attain excellent overall results in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSE) but who don’t meet the admission requirements in one core subject.

Under this new arrangement, the University may still consider applications if the students have attained the “4+2” score needed for a Dean’s Scholarship (as stated in the table below) but whose result in one core subject is one level below that which is required for programme admission. With the approval of the relevant programme admission committee, such applicants may still have the opportunity to gain a place at CityU and receive a Dean’s Scholarship.

CityU Scholarships for Hong Kong Talents

The University will continue to offer qualified entrants for the new academic year two categories of awards, namely the Institutional Scholarship and Dean’s Scholarship, both under the scheme of the CityU Scholarships for Hong Kong Talents. Local students with the required results on the HKDSE or General Certificate of Education Advanced Level (GCEAL)/ International Baccalaureate (IB) who are admitted to government-funded undergraduate programmes at CityU through JUPAS or Non-JUPAS will be awarded one of the above categories of scholarships.

Recipients of an Institutional Scholarship will receive up to HK$60,000 each year and a one-off award of HK$25,000 for an overseas exchange in one semester. Recipients of a Dean’s Scholarship will receive up to HK$50,000 each year. Both scholarships can be renewed each year on condition that the students’ academic performance meets specific requirements during their studies.

In addition to the above awards, scholarship recipients will have the opportunity to take part in the following activities: Global Work Attachment Programme, Academic Mentorship Programme, and training workshops and talks related to leadership and career planning.
